Illustration Notes for Episode Forty-Nine
Well, spring has definitely returned! And so, appropriately, TWICE returns from six weeks of sepia-tone illustrations of Matt’s Tale to the current-day story and FULL COLOR ILLUSTRATIONS AGAIN! HURRAH!!!
And yes, this week’s image is awfully dark, and mostly blue, but hey, what do you expect from spring in a pandemic? ;] That said, I really enjoyed whipping out this image of The Lady—by starlight—at the great gates of the River King’s estate, with its aura of grand dilapidation, dark elegance, and creepy mid-night secrecy. …Or at least, that’s what I was going for as I depicted The Lady taking one last look over her shoulder for spies before entering her fellow ruler’s fortress under cover of darkness.
Once again this week, I have had to go it alone without my trusty new collaborative partner, M.Scott Hammond—who is—happily—busy with other freelance work at the moment. But he will certainly be back in the saddle here soon! :]
As usual, find an uncropped version of the image below—and peruse away! :]
